Getting it right when we write!
A spelling project focused on learning, remembering and applying
- to explore approaches that enable pupils to learn, remember and apply spellings within spelling sessions and across the curriculum
- to develop teachers’ subject knowledge and understanding of progression
- to consider strategies to support pupils who have fallen behind in spelling
- to develop a professional network of teachers for the duration of the project and beyond!
The project will begin with a full day’s launch where we will explore creative, memorable approaches to teaching spelling, as well as strategies for supporting those pupils who find difficulty in learning, retaining and applying spelling work. Teachers will be asked to complete interim classroom-based work with their pupils, to be shared at the follow-up sessions. The follow-up sessions will provide an opportunity to build on approaches introduced on the launch day and explore further information and resources to support the development of spelling in school.
