After drafting: Developing reviewing, evaluating, editing and proofreading through the writing process

The EEF recommends that writing be taught as a seven-stage process, five of which follow the drafting stage. So how can we support pupils to develop their post-drafting skills: sharing, reviewing, evaluating, editing, proofreading and presenting?

This course will explore strategies and approaches to support pupils in developing skills to revise and develop their own and others’ writing.

Teachers will:

  • revisit the seven stage writing process and consider the progression in NC expectations for editing and proofreading
  • explore strategies and approaches to scaffold pupils in their development of reviewing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • gain a bank of effective strategies to use with their own classes and to share with colleagues

Target audience: KS1 and KS2 teachers, English Subject Leaders
